Description
BCH Engineering Consultants Pty Ltd were engaged to undertake inspections of Cape lamberts Iron Ore Offloading facilities including a 2km ore wharf , 0.5km service wharf and some 25 berthing dolphins. The inspections involved organising several teams of experienced engineers, and boat operators & conducting surveys on the entire structures during the facilities operation. All elements of the structures where inspected from land and from a boat to gain suitable visual access to all structural elements, including and not limited to piles, walkways, trafficable decks, headstocks, dolphin fenders, chains, grating & ladders. The primary purpose of the inspections were to generate structural integrity reports to allow the client to plan for future maintenance requirements. BCH staff have a long history with this site and have subsequently been asked to provide inspection services on the service wharf as part of the Rio Tinto Cape Lambert expansion project.
